The AT4 is a one shot disposable anti-tank weapon. It is used by many nations armed forces, including the USA. Like the heavy grenade launcher it operates using the back-blast principle and has virtualy no recoil. It fires a fin-stabilized 84mm HEAT (high explosive, anti-tank) round that is capable of penetrating up to 400mm of armor plate. It has twin pop-up plastic sights, and is very easy to use (it even has the instructions printed on it). For safety reasons the projectile travels 30 m before arming. It is mainly used to destroy enemy armored vehicles (mainly MT-LBs) and engineer vehicles. |
