KSP58 - medium machinegun

Ksp58

Ksp58 is the Swedish designation of the Fabrique National MAG. It uses the same ammunition (7.62 NATO) as the American M60. It is belt-fed, either from a 250-round box or a 50-round casette. The belt usually contains tracer rounds every five rounds. An extra barrel is carried, so you can switch barrels after 250 rounds. In the winter you attach a special snow blade to the bipod so it doesn't sink into the snow. Since it is quite big and heavy it is transported in a pulk (a man pulled sled) in the winter. The main targets are enemy troops and unarmored or lightly armored vehicles (trucks, jeeps, etc). It is currently being replaced by the Ksp90 light machinegun (see previous page).
